Sena Plaza Gallery
127 E. Palace Ave.
Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501

In February, 1992 Joseph Sisneros (great-grandson of Hermenegildo and Trinidad Jaramillo) opened
The Rancho de Chimayo Collection. Joseph's lineage is traced to San Ildefonso Pueblo where his Great-Great Grandfather once lived. Over 25 years of experience gives Joseph
a unique ability to feature many works by some of the most talented artists in the Southwest. In January, 1996 a second location was opened in historical
downtown Santa Fe. The Sena Plaza Gallery is located within the Historical La Casa Sena, built in 1830. The beautiful courtyard and scenic botany allows visitors to relax and absorb an atmosphere of true New Mexico
flavor.
The Sena Plaza Gallery features and specializes in Grandmaster and master potters such as
Carmelita Dunlap , Cynthia Starflower, and Linda Dunlap of San Ildefonso Pueblo.
The gallery also represents Visionary Mannerist Antonio
Roybal.
"Worker in the light" egg tempera and oil on
wood , 24"x18".
There were seven prototypes done prior to 1981 by Carmelita Dunlap and her son
Carlos "Sunrise" Dunlap. Carmelita Dunlap passed away in 2000 and her son Carlos "Sunrise" Dunlap passed away in 1981.
Carmelita was raised by Maria as her own daughter from the age of eight and her children called Maria Grandma.
The sunrise brown style is named after Carlos in honor of his legacy and creative genius. Carmelita was the last living protégé of Maria Martinez.
She was designated a National Treasure during the Nixon administration. She won Indian Market twenty times first place which is still to date unprecedented.
Cynthia Starflower, since her mother’s death is second in line to Maria Martinez. She brought back the "Sunrise" brown pottery seven years ago after her brother Carlos passed away. She is also one of the last Grandmaster potters currently working in San Ildefonso Pueblo.
Her sister Linda Dunlap is a master potter with beautiful burnish work and is
third in line to Maria. Her work is comparable to Cynthia's except that she produces less work but she is equally desirable to collectors.
"Dena Suina Storytellers" Cochiti Pueblo
Rancho de Chimayo Collection also shows the finest figurative potter in the Southwest, Dena Suina
of Cochiti Pueblo. The gallery exclusively represents Dena in Santa Fe and is able to fulfill custom orders all year round. Email for more information and pricing.
"Coronation of the Virgin" egg tempera and oil on wood 24"x12".
In addition to pottery the gallery features Artist Antonio Roybal. Using a "mische" or mixed technique of egg tempera and oil in an old master approach allows Roybal to explore ancient symbols in a contemporary idiom.
